Squeezing the Last Drop Out of Summer đ
Workouts for the MYND
Boom! Just like that, Summer is (almost) over.
It feels like it just got started, and here we are, already planning our Labor Day weekends, wearing our white pants daily, grilling and eating as much ice cream as possible before the leaves start changing. For some, the season was filled with dreamy European beach trips, poolside relaxation, tons of hotdogs, and sunset drinks to recharge. For others, it felt more like a workday whirlwindâ too many plans, endless work to-do lists, carpools and hardly any time for poolside popsicles or sunburned beach days.
If youâre in the latter group, I get it. Itâs been a summer of doing rather than just being - at least here at MYNDY (because weâve been working hard to bring you our routine builder!). But before we fully shift gears into fall, let me remind all of you (and myself) of something I hold closeâas one of my favorite signs at the School of Visual Arts on 23rd Street in Manhattan says, "It's never too late to get where you're going."
So, hereâs what I propose:
Labor Day is around the corner. And if you didnât know, itâs a holiday about not working. Yeah, thatâs rightâdoing nothing. So, this Labor Day, find yourself an outdoor shower, a quiet (or not so quiet) spot to unwind, drink an iced beverage, read, or just chill for the day.
Take advantage of those Summer Friday Vibes. Or Thursdays, or Wednesdays, or heck, even Tuesdays. Give yourself permission to take a half day or two. The world wonât stop turning because you took a few hours to yourself (we hope you spend them outside).
Take a breakâfor a sec. Whether it's a microbreak between meetings (stepping away from your phone for five-ten minutes), a screen-free evening, or a weekend without obligations, give yourself a moment to breathe. If you follow me on social, youâve probably seen me talking about these small but mighty breaks a lot latelyâand for good reason. They work wonders.
Weâre keeping it short and sweet this week so we can all go squeeze every last drop out of summer, no matter how it started! Hereâs to finishing it off with a little more âbeingâ and a little less âdoingâ.
With Heart,
Lissy and The MYNDY Team
