When things are hardâŠ

We want to start out this weekâs newsletter by saying that the world is heavy right now - thoughts, feelings, even actions - are a lot to hold. If youâre expecting our team to come out with some toxically positive note - not today team, not today. Weâre right there with you. Weâve been feeling a lot, and finding ourselves less productive as a result. One of our favorite quotes during these times isnât a platitude, but the simple truth that:
âYou donât build psychological resilience by feeling good all the time. You build psychological resilience by getting better at feeling bad.â - Mark Manson
When the world feels this way, some of the big questions our members have been coming to us with include:
Does my work even matter right now?
I was unhappy before but with everything going on, how do I think about work?
Am I in the right job?
Given work is typically the thing we spend most of our days doing ⊠itâs no surprise we look to our jobs to blame whenever weâre feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or tired. Sometimes thatâs right, sometimes wrong ⊠either way, it is usually a significant factor in diagnosing our mental fitness woes! Understanding what is most important to you at work is a worthwhile exercise to help you get specific on what you need so that you can re-make the commitment to your current role or start looking for a new one ... with a clear mynd and heart.
Remember, âWhere focus goes, energy flows.â - Tony Robbins
So whether youâre looking for a new job, thinking about a change, or just having a few rough days, this oneâs for you!
Weâd love to share a tool that we use to help focus your mynd when big life (including career) questions come up.
In the last newsletter, we had you all think about your core values (what is most important to you in life) - 3 elements, behaviors, feelings, or things that if they are absent in your world, things feel wrong. Was it hard, surprising, a good reminder, a minor epiphany? Good, that was the point! If you havenât done it, we suggest you take a look before diving into this weekâs questions.
Now, letâs go one step further and add some specificity to whatâs important to you when it comes to work:
We have a set of 5 key questions to help you focus on what matters to you in your career. This exercise will help you understand why your current job is great for you, why it may be time for a change or even, why although youâve been feeling pretty pissed about your current situation, it actually is a great fit and you may just need some help changing your myndset đ. For all of you job seekers - this is a super helpful exercise weâve used time and time again to help you focus your search.
Here is your next round of homework!
Get a pen and piece of paper and answer these 5 questions:
1. What skills are you looking to develop in the next 2 years?
A. Personally?
B. Professionally?
2. What are your non-negotiables for your job? Choose 4.
3. What day-to-day tasks interest you? In which industries?
A. Personally?B. Professionally?
4. What kind of problems do you want to solve/questions you want to answer?
A. Personally?B. Professionally?
5. What are the best things you currently offer when you work on a team and/or to the world (top 3 skills)? A. Personally?B. Professionally?
If you found these mynd exercises helpful, weâd love to hear from you!

A classic MYNDY favorite. Can you find the hidden tiger? đŻđ

Celebration
(Why we share this: This is a way to celebrate your
MYND and the MYNDY community)
While weâre still celebrating things daily, weâre also feeling deeply all that is happening in the world right now. Todayâs celebration is a simple one: give your loved ones a (big) squeeze, hold tight and repeat.
Is there something small you can celebrate today?
Final Thoughts! âš
We are big fans of @Seth Godin here at MYNDY. His daily blog is short, sweet and always speaking to our mynds! Hereâs a goodie for you:
I was happily pedaling along on the rail trail when three spandex speedsters blew by me on their handmade carbon bikes.
For a moment, I was disheartened. Whatâs the pointâtheyâre speedy, Iâm not.
Then I realize that itâs not a bike race, itâs a bike ride. There is no winning, just the riding.
And with that, weâll leave you to the week - keep riding folks!
How was the newsletter this week? Weâd love quick your thoughts:
